The Cosmopolis project is an international project aimed at increasing cooperation and participation among local governments, universities and associations that are partners in Turkey, France and Spain. The stakeholders of the project in Turkey are Yıldırım Municipality, Bursa Technical University and Symbiosis Social Activity Association. The aim of the project is to make suggestions to the local government on disability, to generate data for academic studies and to share good practices in international media, with the workshop held on November 29, 2021 on disability in Yıldırım district and awareness activities held on December 8, 2021.

Our Cosmopolis project awareness event was hosted by our local stakeholders BTU, with the contribution of Yıldırım Municipality, in a festival atmosphere. Our Vice Rector, Beyhan BAYHAN, visited all the stands one by one, got information and chatted. SUMMARY
The purpose of the “Law on the Disabled” numbered 5378; is to ensure that the disabled people benefit from their fundamental rights and freedoms and strengthen their respect for their inherent dignity, to ensure their full and effective participation in social life on equal terms with other individuals, and to make necessary arrangements for taking measures to prevent disability. In the study conducted for individuals with special needs, the term “disabled” was used, as it was named in the current law no. 5378, instead of the expression “individual with special needs”.
The Cosmopolis project is an international project aimed at increasing cooperation and participation among local governments, universities, associations and lawyers, with partners from Turkey, France and Spain. The stakeholders of the project in Turkey are Bursa Technical University, Yıldırım Municipality and Symbiosis Social Activity Association.
The aim of the project is to make suggestions to local governments about disability through awareness activities to be held locally, to generate data for academic studies and to share exemplary practices in international media. In the workshop held for this purpose, three main topics were determined. The first of these was “the problems experienced by disabled individuals and their families”. The second topic was “what needs to be done in the field of urban transformation and accessibility”. Finally, the third topic was digital advocacy.The universe of the study was chosen as Bursa province – Yıldırım district, and the sample group was the study groups from the disability workshop. The sample group, in other words, consists of working groups, academicians who are experts in their fields, local government representatives, disabled individuals and their families. Each issue determined in the workshop was handled by the working groups, and problems and solution suggestions were tried to be put forward.
In brief, the problems and solutions presented at the workshop were the following: Education and employment problems, social exclusion, lack of self-advocacy, burnout syndrome, some deficiencies in the regulation of the physical environment and inability to use social media effectively. The solution proposals put forward in the workshop were; raising awareness, providing budget support for necessary regulations, training and consultancy support on media literacy and other issues, and deterrent penalties.

Our mutual comparison and sharing meetings with Next Planning and Platonics, our foreign stakeholders of the project, continue.
Our project, which was donated by Alda and Medar, will also be presented at the Team4Team March 2022 Barcelona event.
Finally we are at Tarragona in Spain. We have our spring school of Team 4 Team program at the University of Rovira i Virgili. All the NGO from Turkey, France, Portugal, Norway, Sweden, Germany were there. We learned soo much from each other and we played the Electionville game by the facilitation of max from Fabel Sweden. As subgrantees, we have presented our projects so Cosmopolis.
Medar , Alda, and Platoniq trainer almost taught us on:
- Citizen journalism with the rights-based approach
- Citizens’ participation in practice
- Safe(r) spaces
Also, we had “Speed dating” in Barcelona at Canodrom with associations working on digital participation and on participation (facilitated by Platoniq)
It was an opportunity for us to create new networks, partnerships for future collaboration.
